I'm having a hard time getting back into the swing of things after two weekends away. I'm weighing myself, but my food journal has fallen by the wayside. I can see a difference in my choices when I'm rushing around and knowing I'm not keeping track of what I eat.

Plus, the stress of preparing for the mission trip and the move is making it hard for me to fall asleep. Once asleep, I'm having nightmares. I haven't had those since I was a child. ugh. I feel so tired in the morning that I either go back to sleep or get up but don't run. darn. I'm disappointed in myself.

Tonight, it's 10:15 and we're just getting ready for bed. Another late night doesn't lend itself to the 5am run. I just need to move. Maybe I'll do the Wii fit tomorrow. Hardly intense exercise, but it beats doing none. Then Saturday is dedicated to baseball and softball (more sitting) and the silent auction. At least working that will keep me on my feet.

This, after camping for three days, doesn't depress me too much. Not great, but not too bad. I do wish I'd done better. We did lots of activities, but none that burn as many calories as running. Biking at the pace of an eight year old hardly qualifies for aerobic exercise! Same with hiking with the same short-legged person. Still, it was fun to enjoy the amazing outdoors with my family and some of the sweets too -- s'mores and mountain pies (even made those with lo-cal bread, but it wasn't as yummy that way). And I just "had" to eat unhealthy foods at the historical diner we went to after our bike ride ended in a lightning storm. We were all sopping wet and gritty -- it was warm homestyle cooking versus cabin cooking -- a no-brainer. So, I ordered fried chicken with sweet potato fries and onion rings. I mean, if I'm going to blow it, I wanted to order the artery clogger and get it over with!! Or could I justify it with it was a cultural lesson in diner eating?!

I did bring my running gear, but didn't run due to the cold (30s) and rain and the fear of getting lost in a forest and never returning alive. My husband says I can't find my way out of a paper bag so it reasons that I wouldn't make it out of the forest. For my own safety, I didn't run. Who knows where I would have ended up! Well, that's my story anyway.

It was a super weekend and I'm grateful for the experience and if a couple of pounds was the price, I'm OK with that.
