I've felt off kilter for the last couple of days and have not followed the plan 100%. I am, however, determined to stay with one program and not flip about like I have in the past. (I keep 38 weeks before me.) Even so I still dropped weight this week which speaks to the effectiveness of the program. On any other program I would have regained some of the weight I had dropped the previously week. I want to break into the 270's for next week so I will follow the plan more closely and increase my exercise.

I am finally getting around to cleaning out my refrigerator of all non-induction foods. It's incredible how much food I waste buying prepared speciality items, some of which I like and others not so much as they're either too sweet or salty. My taste buds are wanting "fresh" so I am stocking up on salad greens, making my own salad dressings, as well as cooking my own meats.

Challenges this week - food tracking and daily journalling.

Yesterday was wonderful. I signed on for a line dancing class and broke a sweat. It's a great starting point for me as it is easy on the knees and I love to dance. My plan is to work up to 5 classes a week. The more I move the more I want to move and I love to dance! I eventually will get back in the gym to start doing some type of weight resistance.

I ended up the day with a massage. After years of taking care of others I decided to go for taking care of me and for the next few weeks I am wallowing in the luxury of a weekly massage. It's incredible that he can zoom right it on the tight sore spots on my body - of which there are soooo many - and loosen them up.

As usual I was hungry afterwards but I made a good choice - grilled chicken.

Today I met with a couple of friends for lunch at a restaurant featuring Louisiana cuisine. I knew I would be eating carbs - particularly white rice - so I went for it. I started with a cup of gumbo and for once I enjoyed a restaurant gumbo as it was so close to what my mother's. It was served over rice but I ate around it and left most of it in the bowl. My fried catfish was light and fluffy if catfish can be such. Incredible. It came with potato salad which I tasted and put aside as my eyes were on the hush puppies which I truly wanted. I was expecting 2-3 and was pleasantly surprised to see 7-8 of the little puppies. I wanted them all but made a decision to enjoy about half of them particularly as there was the real chance I was going for dessert. And dessert came covered in a mound of powdered sugar. There is nothing like sweetened fried bread. I love beignets! So I had one. Just one. Today's lunch was an exercise in letting go without going overboard. I came away satisfied but not stuffed. Tomorrow is another day.

7 days down. Decent results from the scale. Clothes are looser. I noticed that after the first two days my ankles stopped swelling. I followed the program faithfully for the first few days. I made water my constant companion. Then I experienced carb carvings. For the past two days I basically ate what I wanted but didn't go totally overboard. Had the scale showed something different today I probably would have gone out and gone overboard with refined carbs.

What I did do yesterday was go over the book and become more knowledgeable about the induction phase to help me be better prepared to follow the program this week.

I caught an episode last week of Dr. Oz which related that Vitamin D can be an important component in weight loss and most of us are deficient. So I've added that to my program.

My first short term weight goal is to drop 10% of my weight - 29 pounds. 260.6 pounds. I will stay on the induction phase until I reach it.

260 pounds - I feel delightfully giddy. To think I will fit into some of my clothes again. And to be able to walk without waddling or breathing heavily. I'm really looking forward to that day.
