Breakfast: 1/2 red grapefruit, 2 baby bananas, plantains, sautéed in coconut oil, small serving of refried black beans with colby-jack, 2 runny poached eggs on top of chiccharrones (pork skins) with a crumbling cheese.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a significant problem with processed, pre-packaged junk food carbohydrates and ice cream. These kinds of foods, I just cannot stop eating, once I pick them up. You know that old potato chip commercial? “I bet you can’t eat just one,” remember that? I sincerely believe there was some scientific understanding there in that advertisement, either about the way our tastebuds are programmed by evolution, or what they knew they were making their chips with.
The combination of carbohydrate, or worse, sweet tastes, combined with salt, and fat is something we are wired by nature to crave. In the case of more-or-less every potato, and junk food chip, really almost any chip out there, even things like multigrain chips and plantain chips, they are fried in, or made with unhealthful factory fats: industrial seed “vegetable” oils and hydrogenated oils such as cottonseed oil, corn oil, soybean oil, canola oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, sesame seed oil, grapeseed oil, and others. These fats are high in Omega 6 linoleic fatty acids, can further stimulate your appetite by acting on your endo-cannabinoid receptors, giving you a case of the munchies, and can contribute to poor metabolic health, and insulin resistance. Added sugars weren’t doing me any service either. Needless to say, I decided to give up chips, cakes, cookies, crackers, candies, and ice cream, and in general, moving far away from processed, packaged junk foods, and convenience foods, and not bringing them into my home any more, and avoiding them away from the home.

Breakfast, amy most important meal of the day: papaya, 1 mango, 1 baby banana, 1/2 medium avocado, 1/2 of small bell pepper, pickled jalapeño, 2 eggs with pepper jack & sour cream, 4oz of sirloin w/pepper jack.

Hot breakfast: 1/4 of a papaya, 1 blood orange, 1 apple, 3 pastured eggs w/ pepper jack, 3oz ground beef, 1.5oz. sirloin, 1oz liver, 1 pickle spear.
