You know - I can hardly believe it. I've seen the scale say 19- or 18- for so long, so very many years (even 2--) and now, I'm almost out of the 17-'s. It seems a little unreal to me. I've worked so hard before, and now it seems like nothing. I fought and bled for every pound before, and now, it just falls off. I'm healthy, I'm not hungry, I have energy. All it took was for me to truly make up my mind. Are there temptations? Sure, but I made up my mind. Are there tough times? Yup, but I made up my mind. Are there those days when I want to chuck it all? No, not even one - minutes, yes, days, no. I decided. I decided at the end of March that I was done with having all the problems - and when I started I was 189+. I signed up here, and used my current weight, which was 183. Now, I can still hardly believe it - I'm 170.6. I just asked my husband if he thought I could lose another 30 pounds by the end of the year. I'm averaging 1.4 pounds a week - a healthy, reasonable weight loss. 30 is absolutely doable by the end of the year - I could probably even get to 40. Now that I've started, let it roll, baby, let it roll.

Wow, I am amazed to see someone else with such a similar experience to mine. I literally up & decided one day that this was going to happen, no matter what, & everything fell into place after that. I have not regretted one moment. So glad to see that it has worked out just as well for you. :) Congrats!

I have a somewhat similar story. I gave up trying to lose weight several years ago when I was diagnosed with hypothroidism. Then I was watching Dr. Oz in early March when he had a dr. on the show who recommended we follow an Atkins-like lifestyle. Dr. Oz advised against it, but I remembered a similar diet from years back that you only stayed on for two weeks. So I got the Atkins book, read it, and then dreadfully began one day. By the end of the first day I thought "this isn't so bad". It's been a little less than 3 months and I've never gotten off. I'm rarely, if ever, hungry and when I am my hunger is mild compared to when I was on the sugar roller coaster. My blood tests have all improved (amazing when you consider the rap the plan gets). Best of all -- I've lost 30.5 lbs!

I'm so glad that you all have taken something from my experiences. I never really think anyone will read what I write, except for Bidah - he has to, he's my husband...and I will occasionally read it to him before I post.... We aren't that different, even if our weight loss goals seem to be. Some only need to lose a few pounds, while others (raises hand) need to lose, well, more. People just don't realize how very important a positive attitude is. I can do and eat anything I want to, just not today. Together we will succeed, not just succeed, but freakin blow away all expectations that anyone could have ever had. Alone, we can still do it, it's just a rockier road. Don't ever feel like you are alone - even if no one else is around, know that I am here.
