Had some evening activities planned last night, so did a shorter daytime walk with the dogs and then managed to swim a solid 15 before time ran out on me.
2.44 miles for the walk, swim was 399 strokes, 10.1 METs, average heart rate at 135. Kinda a beautiful thing, actually, because it proves what I thought which is that my heart rate goes up when I start fighting the water when I get tired. I call it fighting the water because I'm swimming against a current and you must keep moving or get tossed. I'm doing well at this speed, so I think I'll keep it here and maybe go up a paddle size to increase my resistance. Carefully though, one of the reasons I've started working on the contrarian muscles is that I've got some outside shoulder pain when I'm done. same with my pesky calf where I had a hamstring injury a couple years ago. stretching, dingbat, stretching and strengthening.
I worked a list yesterday, got a bunch of stuff done before noon and then around 7pm I was a little lost because I'd finished all my commitments. did I start a new project? nope, I rarely have true downtime, so I ditzed around the the house a little and messaged friends. they may have lifted the mandates, but we're all home on the weekends. going to take some time to adjust there.
made a mistake with dinner last night and had spanakopita without any substantial filler alongside it. was ravenous afterward and made a sandwich a couple hours later. had some protein with it, but it just didn't do it. it'll work out, but just one more thing to be mindful of. also noteworthy, milk chocolate truffles are a trigger food, dark chocolate is fine. weird, but it is what it is. hard to control truffle consumption.
caught a pic of the neighbor's giant tortoise out of his hidey hole. dogs were very curious, although this isn't their first encounter. I don't judge because a lot of people here get their tortoises and turtles from a local rescue group, but too many don't understand that they can live over 100 years. I guess that's good motivation to be your best self to live as long as possible. they're also much faster than you'd think. fun stuff for a Sunday morning.
BF is working today, so I'm on my own. putting together another list since I do well that way.
weekend rules, enjoy the day.
