I'm really enjoying my new diet! The gluten free English muffins by Food for Life I'm eating right now are really awesome (just as good as regular muffins) and the pecan raisin bread is pleasant/tolerable. I bought gluten free rice/corn pasta at Wal-Mart today (I've had corn pasta accidentally once before from a health food store and couldn't tell any difference from regular pasta, so we'll see how this brand turns out), along with some barbecue chicken wings.

My one weakness on this diet right now is Simply Lemonade (problem ingredient: cane sugar). If I drink it more in the future I'm going to water it down with club soda. :) On the plus side, I'm off of energy drinks. (I love getting Casey's and Quick Trip 52 oz ice teas, and drinking Vitamin Water Zero.)

Why giving up gluten? I have trouble losing weight even when I keep calories at a healthy low (1200ish cal/day). I think that the reason the Atkins/high protein diets work is they lower intake of "bad" carbs, like white bread, that I (like most Americans) really love. Brown rice is a good carb whereas wheat is a more recent addition to human diet and is harder to digest.

I'm suspicious I have PCOS (a difficult to diagnose but common hormone condition linked to diabetes and celiac disorder and IBS and PMS and all sorts of funky little problems!) and women on PCOS message boards seem to have good luck with limited gluten. So we'll see how it works!
I've tried gluten free products off and on while dieting before, and lost weight while on them, but this time I'm going to stick with it.

Supplements I'm taking: L-Glutamine (500mg) and Soy Lecithin (1000mg).
(I'm also temporarily taking a cleanse, "AbsorbMore Toxins" but that's not critical.)
