What a day! So after my first journal I get a call and email from the job I applied to. They are offering me the job. Hr lady says to sign it and fax it back to her.
So I open it up and immediately notice "temporary" and a low salary. :( Hmmmm I called the HR lady back to discuss "temporary". She did say it's a "temp to hire" position. Ok. I'm ok with that. I told her I needed to call unemployment to see if for some reason they don't hire me.... will I get my unemployment back after the temp work is done.
Called mom. She immediately said they low balled me and to not take the job. I did number crunching and it was barely above unemployment. I'm struggling on unemployment and that's just sitting home.
So I called the HR lady back and tell her the salary is too low, I already get that on unemployment. Her response "you know, I thought so. I talked to my manager before calling you. Let me call her back and get back to you". Ummm ok.
Now, in my mind I'm thinking "nope, not taking the job". It's just too low. Mom and I discuss back and forth.
HR Lady calls back. They sent me a new offer letter. I told her I'd look at it and get back to her. It's 33% higher! Yes THIRTY-THREE percent higher! It's still less than what I use to make - which I completely accepted in today's economy. But it's definitely acceptable. Sure, for now no insurance, vacation, etc. But... that's ok. For now.
Mom is shocked they counter offered so high. She says they sound desperate. I don't care. It's money. I got a hold of unemployment and the guy looked up my info. I can definitely take this "temp" job. And if I'm not hired and they let me go, I get my unemployment back. Decision made.
I have a job!!!!! And I start tomorrow! How crazy is that????
Now, why am I starting tomorrow? I know the corporate world. They won't have a computer or ID for me. But hey... they're going to be paying me!!!! I takie!
I'm an awesome worker. I know they will hire me permanently once they see what I can do.
So today is a good day! I haven't eaten all day. So tonight will be a massive burger and lots of veggies!!!!!
Now.... I already set my alarm clock (haven't done that in ages) and tonight I will plan out my food for tomorrow.
One of the perks at this company... free fountain drinks. Oh please don't have pepsi! I looooooove pepsi. I've gone 6 weeks without one.... I don't want it now. And diet pepsi sucks.
