Diario de wintersmith, 09 abr. 10

Well, it has been a roller coaster few days. I'm shocked that I managed, more or less, to hold to my diet. Early in the week I was putting in a lot of time at work, so long hours and I didn't stop to exercise. Nothing too extreme, but I sorely felt my lack of activity. Then, the day that our deadline came up I got a phone call that my father had had a heart attack. He's OK, and I rushed out to the hospital where he was taken to and have been there the last couple of days. Now begins the job of convincing him to stop smoking, since that was the cause of this last problem. The good news is that he is being discharged tonight, two days early. I do know how badly he wanted to go home.

So, needless to say, bad food and bad exercise all around and yet... a one pound drop. I can't explain it, and I won't try. I've made sure I ate as much as I usually do, even if that required me to have a protein shake at 11 PM. Ah well, I'll take any good from this week that I can.

Oh, and tonight my wife will be performing for her dance/exercise studio. She's really excited about it, and I'll be there cheering her on. Wish her luck!

Well good luck wifey on the dance/exercise thing! Sorry to here about your father, the whole convincing thing will be the hardest. Older men are so stubborn, and if he doesn't want to quit he prob won't. Unless if that whole near death experience will save him, saved our friend -stopped cold turkey. But he was in his forties! w/ small children.

My thoughts are with you and your father. Taking care of him was more important than anything else. I'm glad he is going home and you are able to be with your wife. Hope you have fun at the studio cheering your wife on.

Wow I'm glad your father is doing better. Smoking is a hard habit to kick but maybe with him going to the hospital will give him the incentive to try. And of course I hope your wife does really well with her dancing.

Glad to hear your father is doing well. Maybe this will be the wakeup call he needed? I'm sure you had fun watching your wife dance!

Thanks guys! He's pretty gung-ho right now to quit smoking. My brother and I have started planning a guilt trip of "but grandchildren are in the works. We'd like them to have a grandfather..." so hopefully that will provide some impetus later when his resolve starts to flag. My wife did great, I might even have a video clip to link to later.
