I stuffed my face and emotion ate a lot. Part of me feels like I'll never lose weight now. I am what I categorize as embarrassingly fat. At 250 I wasn't embarrassed but knew I needed to lose weight. Now I'm so embarrassed to go out in public. I emotion eat a lot because my family is seriously dysfunctional and they always stress me out on purpose because that is what makes their world go round. I really want to lose weight, but I give up a lot of the time and stuff my face on purpose, thinking who cares anyway.

I know it seems frustrating, and depressing even - to feel like you have a long way to go... but starting this journey will change your life. Instead of being embarrassed, you will soon become proud - proud that you are a Mom who cares enough to change that which she doesn't like about herself or her situation. Your kids will see you 'modeling' successful behaviors to get this weight off. They will likely become your biggest cheerleaders. The rest of the dysfunction in your life, well.. you'll have to put in 'mental earplugs'!!! Tune them out, do this for you... and you won't regret it. We all eat out of need, and out of habit. Set yourself up for success. Start journaling in your food tracker daily. Start really looking at an honest picture of what you are eating. Total calories, fat, protein, carbs, sodium, etc... and then begin to 'teach yourself' about how to make one better choice each day. There are soooo many knowledgeable people here on this site, and you will be able to do this - although it obviously will take time. But that's ok, 'cause you need time to learn how to change things so this will be a NEW healthy eating lifestyle. You will need to learn how to deal w/ stress, without turning to food. And how to love yourself, so you no longer feel embarrassed, but are seeing just how lovely you are in your efforts!!! YOU are worth this change! Believe in yourself, make a firm commitment - and come back here regularly to get the help and support you need to get the job done! ;) Sent you a buddy request! Much Love.

Rooting for you! You can do it. I agree the first critical step is to start journaling 100% of your food. Best of luck!

Plumpnpretty, you are so much more than your weight! It does not in any way change your value as a person and the people around you love you for being YOU! It's isn't about changing who you are, it's about being the very best YOU that you can be. All of our families are dysfunctional on some level so do what you can to stay out of the drama and don't let it sabotage you. If you don't have support in the real world, find it here- check in daily and cultivate some buddies that will motivate and support you but also hold you accountable. Every time you are about to eat to make you feel better, step back and ask yourself how well it's worked in the past. I suspect you already know the answer to that.... A great quote I found: "The chief cause of failure and unhappiness is trading what you want the most for what you want now." So make your list of reasons why losing weight is important for and keep coming back to it whenever you feel tempted or discouraged. You CAN do this!
