Thanks for the nice comment. Its easier than I thought. Eat less than 2090 calories a day, lose weight. Eat more, gain weight. I don't care about carbs, fats, proteins or any other chemicals, just calories. I still drink beer, eat pizza, chocolate and ice cream and miss nothing.

Same here. Just go for the "good" calories! What I mean by that is instead of eating a cheap candy bar or soda, I'd rather wait a little longer to get home for that pizza slice with a cold beer. Worth it!

Thanks again for the encouraging comments. I find it puzzling that a lot of the folks on here are so concerned with carbs and fasting and what they eat. I eat everything, drink and enjoy life. I have found it is not about sacrifice, it is about adjustment. I am about to be 69 in January, 6'1" and was 215 pounds on October 15, when I started. I am retired from the Royal Canadian Air Force ParaRescue. I have removed nothing from my diet. I simply do not exceed my caloric intake of 2090 calories per day. I walk for one hour per day with my dog and exercise three times a week. I use My Fitness Plan and even when I receive bonus calories for exercise, I don't exceed by base of 2090 per day. I eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and snack. I drink 10 20oz glasses of water per day. I eat bread, ice cream, pizza, chocolate, and any other decadent food. I drink wine, beer and liquor. I just make sure I don't exceed 2090 calories per day. That's the adjustment part. I also record everything I eat. My snacks are usually apples, bananas and pineapple. The one other thing I have learned is that at my age, exercising like a 20 year old doesn't work because my metabolism is no longer 20 years old. Good luck everyone. Weigh yourself once a week and be prepared for setbacks and successes. Remember, we are not getting out of this alive, so enjoy yourselves.

You are a lucky man, Sarge. Some here, aren't so lucky. You will be good. Just keep focused.

Sarge I very much agree with you! For me it's more about calories and not letting my body predict what I'm doing. I had a great example - the other day I was eating "sick" people food of saltines, Sprite, sherbet, etc. (very high carb/sugar, almost no protien) and my weight was untouched because I was within my allotment. It may have even gone down if that day wasn't jam packed with more sodium than I'm used to. Keep it up!
