There is a great book on it called "Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength" by Baumeister & Tierney. I read it a few years back and has totally changed what I thought about 'Willpower' and has helped me recognize when mine is fleeting. I've been thinking more and more as of recent that I need to reread it; meh.

Mine also must have run away with yours and SuzM's. Not posting my weight until I get back to where I was. I AM back, though. During my run through the fields of tasty garbage, I occasionally became aware that some of these "treats" didn't taste all that good. I actually became aware that I wasn't feeling good, was going through bouts of low mood (from the blood sugar swings) and feeling despair. Have I learned my lesson? I will believe it when I can have an out-of-bounds meal or snack and not have it turn into a free-for-all for a week or longer. Time will tell if I "got it" this round.

Thanks, everybody! Thanks for the recommendation, FROSTY. Ironically, it was already sitting in my audible wishlist, so it looks like I'll be listening to it soon. TRACKIN64, those sugar-induced mood swings make it so frigging easy to just keep sliding and sliding, don't they? Ultimately, I believe HCB -- "Fluctuations happen" -- but it's a struggle for me take that to heart. I'm like a light switch, either a highly disciplined monk or a raving lunatic. I will say, however, that tracking my ups and downs have given me some insight into patterns and have helped me to see things more clearly. That's why I am recording my glitch weight. It's embarrassing and frustrating, but I know that it'll come off quickly, and then in the future, when I mess up again, I'll be able to look back at this and hopefully buckle down that much more quickly and confidently. Thanks, POOHLE, for throwing me some willpower. I think it actually hit. I'm feeling much more together today, and I'm excited to get back on track.
