For the last 2 weeks have only lost 1 pound/week. It is more of a mental issue when I was steady at losing 3 pounds/week. I think we expect too much from the scales after trying so hard to lose weight. But the scale is just one of the measurement tools and is no where near perfect. The VA has put me on Testosterone Injections for last few months (every 3 weeks) and I can see the results from more muscles and less fat in my waist line. In last 3 weeks have lost 2 notches on my belt (about 3 inches). I believe there is a lag time of building muscle from being active and exercise. Many expect results right away and give up if they don't see them. The consistent daily improvements are the key to staggering long term results.

It's a long term process and important to understand that to achieve long term success....and the scale is not the only way to measure progress. You're doing great, keep it up!

I think you nailed it. It is mental. The times when the scale is not moving as we feel it should does not equate to we are not continuing to improve, be healthier, etc; but it is tough to not think that way. The battle is mental. You got to push through the disappointment of what the scale is telling you & keep putting one foot in front of the other. The key is don't stop doing what your doing. At some point, the scale will will have to give in. So just keep on keeping on brother & the barrier will fall.

Nothing wrong with losing a pound a week and this way you won't end up with too much loose skin.

"Staggering long term results"--I love that phrase and will keep that in the back of my mind. You are doing great and I love your attitude toward the many ways we can look at success.

Thanks everyone! It great that we share support, positive attitudes, and success in your quest for better health. However, in the real world I have noticed a much different attitude. I went to an Easter outing and saw some acquaintances, who I have not seen in a year or more, and they all did a double take look at me when the first saw me. After losing about 80 pounds I am kinda of used to it. But nobody said anything about my drastic weight loss. Many of them are overweight also and probably want to change but are not ready yet. I even remember when I was extremely overweight and I saw somebody else who lost weight, it made me feel slightly uneasy. Now, I am humble about my change in health and don't even bring it up or talk about it. I just let the visual results speak for themselves.

I lost weight really fast last time, but this time...it isn't only slow, it's dragging. It's all to do with exercise and activity for me. Congrat's on your progress!

Midnightoil, I am sorry that no one acknowledged your amazing achievements. I suppose I have always been someone who takes joy in my friends' successes. I understand the reasons you give why your acquaintances might not have mentioned anything, but I wish you could have gotten that fabulous feeling that comes with that recognition. It may not be the same, but I want you to know how proud I am for the hard work you have put in and the incredible progress you have made! :)
