A little background. I'm 49 and was an avid runner and basketball player up until a few years ago. I started driving trucks, eating fast food/sodas/energy drinks/and junk food several times a day. It took its toll. I haven't felt like my high energy, athletic self since.

I started IF 11/4/21 bcuz I was feeling the effects of carrying 30 more pounds than my usual walk around weight of 185.
I thought it would take 6 months to reach 185 but had no idea I'd reach that goal in just 6 WEEKS. I used to be tired. All.The.Time. It affected my relationships and overall quality of life.

Now? I have energy to not just get thru the day... but to finish the entire week strong. (I used to take multiple naps each day...then sleep the entire weekend). Now I can go the entire week without a nap simply bcuz I wake up each morning energized and ready to go! 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️

FYI... I'm not keto, vegan, carnivore, or even low carb...per se. I've learned something from ALL of them but for me it's all about enjoying the full spectrum of natural, whole foods out there while reducing or eliminating as many harmful ingredients as I can happily live without. I had Chik-Fila yesterday for the first time in 8 weeks. It was delicious, and I may go another month or two before it calls me again. Or I may eat it again next week. (Either way, I feel healthy, like the way I look in the mirror, and I'm super happy with my maintenance lifestyle!)

My regimen:
I fast Mon-Fri while on the road, usually 20:4 all week with a minimum 24hr fast on Friday. (I did a 50 hr fast in December and a 41hr fast this week. Those are never planned. I get to 24 hours and if I feel really energized and sharp enough, I'll skip that meal and ride that wave of momentum out).

My Menu (Mon-Fri):
Lots of fish, chicken, and beef. Salads. Eggs and bacon.
The usual olive oil, ghee, coconut oil. Pretty much every leafy green out there. And lots of blueberries, kiwi, strawberries, cantaloupe, and watermelon.
I do use sugar in my coffee or tea. (Coconut, honey, raw brown, agave? Yes. NOT a fan of the taste of stevia or monk fruit).
I don't worry about ketosis at all. In fact...I kick myself out of ketosis every time I break a fast! 🤷 I'm just trying to cut out as many processed foods/sugars as I'm comfortable with. 😛 👍

On weekends? I don't fast at all. And I eat whatever I want that day. Go out with friends and family. Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Whatever makes me smile that day.

I'm usually gain 2 pounds per weekend. And lose 3-5 pounds Monday-Friday. Could I be 170 pounds if I was 100% low carb, keto, or vegan? Especially with no Cheat Days? Absolutely!!

But I guess I'm lucky that intermittent fasting plus reducing processed foods and sugars is enough to make me feel 10 years younger! And lets me still enjoy the foods I love! ❤ 😍

Good luck to you all! And remember the #1 goal is to gather all information...then understand what works best for YOU! 🥸✌
