I'm continuing to move along. This is good. I've got to keep the progress going. Yesterday, I did my longest stretch of exercise yet (I should follow Jay Lake, I think, and speak of 'body movement'), followed by five minutes in the hot tub and another five in the sauna. Today, alas, I have a long meeting in the evening.

I'm doing my best and getting my body moving as well as controlling how much goes into it. I can still see the large 'spare tyre' around my waist. But it isn't the huge balloon that used to be there, so I'm progressing. The tape measure and the scale don't lie. In another couple of weeks, all being well, I'll fit into the shirt and trousers I've just bought for myself. That's as good an incentive as any of which I can think -- lose weight so you can fit into your new clothes and so not waste your money!

Having a goal is important. It helps keep me motivated. I'm looking at the 44" jeans in my closet and thinking "maybe in a few days I'll fit". The 46" inch jeans I'm wearing right now are starting to get very loose at the waist, and I've only had them for about six weeks. I'm spending less on food these days, but more on new clothes (the good thing is that since I'm not buying big and tall clothes any more the price is coming down).

It's really good to set short term goals as they are easier to reach and they are so encouraging when you do. I like to wear kilts, and I have a really nice Utilikilt with a 40 inch waist that my niece gave me, but have yet to wear it. I tried it on last night and it is a little snug, but I was able to fasten it completely. With the way I'm going, by this summer it will be too big, but boy do I feel good. Keep at it. It won't be long. Cheers

I've seen Utilikilts at cons. They look really cool and I keep threatening to buy one (my wife points out that they are a tad expensive). The problem is that I couldn't wear it to work! I was at a con a few weeks ago, and saw a gentleman wearing a formal Scots rig. He wore it verra weel. I was most jealous. I keep thinking I should get either a Forbes or a Robertson tartan (I have a claim to both). So far, I've compromised by buying a tie in Robertson tartan. Since it was a regular-sized tie, it looked short on me when I bought it, with my super-sized belly. I don't think it would right now since my belly has dropped a few sizes. I doubt it will in a few more months.

Mine is a size 40. They are actual measured size at your navel, not trouser size, as they tend to not run true. At Christmas I couldn't even get it close to fastening. All this exercise and diet has done wonders. I have a traditional kilt too. We are Campbell clan, and it is also a 40, but will adjust down to a 36 without looking funny. I can't wait to wear that at my niece's college graduation this May. I can't wear mine to the office either, but they are great for everything else. As for expensive. Yes they are, but some good deals are to be found on ebay. My nephew picked one up for $125 shipped a couple months ago. Best to you, and keep it up. Cheers,
