This week seems to be another of gradual improvement. I'm glad. I wonder if I'm falling into a pattern of gradual improvement followed by the frustration of plateauing?

You're still doing great Fledgist. Keep up the great work. Just one more pound and you hit the 75 lb lost milestone. I've been seeing a similar pattern of loss/plateau myself. In my case, I think it's a combination of 1)being slightly out of my normal pattern of diet and exercise due to the holidays, 2) the effects of photoperiodism (the shorter days causing a physiological change encouraging the body to store more fat to survive the winter), and finally 3) the fact that I've been dieting since June 10th. After six months of steady losses, I believe that the body gets stressed and needs a period of recovery before getting back into weight loss mode. Anyway, logic tells me that keeping with the plan is the only way to success. I'm planning on stirring the pot a little after the first of the year with some new exercises and incorporating a little variety into my diet just to keep my body and mind off balance so that I don't fall into a mental rut, and to keep my metabolism fired up as much as possible through the dark days of winter. Good luck on your continued success.

Thanks. I think you're right. Keeping with the plan is the only road to success. I've come so far already, and I can see the benefits already. My ophthalmologist complimented me the other day, because it was much easier to evaluate me than it had been even six months ago.

I've noticed that myself. A plateau and then gradual improvement, etc. I think the body plateaus once in awhile because it has to get used to the new weight.

Runesinger, I suspect you may be right. My problem is that I don't want my body to get used to weighing around 18 stone, or 115 kg. I want it to get used to weighing around 12 stone or 75 kg. Note that I have just got under 19 stone. I still have a long journey to get to where I want to go!
