Did really well for Christmas time. My daughter bought me some PJ's that are a size Sm 4/6 and I said, well it gives me something to work toward and I tried them on and they fit! How crazy is that. I still look in the mirror and think that I am big. Anyway, I got Rachel Ray stainless steel pots and pans and started cooking on them today. Love them. Had a wonderful Christmas and didn't over do it. Instead of cheese cake that was 400 calories a slice! I ate my ice cream cone like I do every night. Made healthy choices.

Well, I went to the doctor yesterday morning and had a follow up from October on my blood work. My cholestoral was 201, high is 199. My number is now 181! My bad cholestoral went down and my good went up. He said my blood work was really good. He was kind of surprised I lost so much weight also and when I told him all I am doing, he said alright. I am eating 3 meals and snacking on almonds and 72% Cocoa, plus that ice cream cone in the evening that I have every night. I exercise every day, I don't take a day off, I don't give myself a "Cheat" day. I am serious about my life change and I am really confident in the way I am losing now that I have seen the blood work and know that I am eating right. I know how my body responds to food now and that has helped me so much. No more yo yo dieting for me. Unless I just got lazy and didn't care about life anymore. This is something I can live with for the rest of my life. No one tells me what I can and cannot have but my body. My body is the one saying yes or no and I listen.
Well, we had our christmas party today and I did very good. I took a small spoon and only had 1 scoop of what people brought. Didn't eat much turkey, it wasn't cooked all the way. I had about an inch of chocolate cheese cake and that was it. I was tired after eating, so I need to figure out what food I ate that my body has disagreed with. This is part of the listening to your body.

This week I had a couple of things that I normally don't eat. I had 1 small slice of pizza and my body totally didn't like it. It gave me indigestion. I made a cake and took a fork bite. So, that is the only off the plan I am on that I did this week. I did not lose 4 lbs in 3 days. I weigh in every wednesday. It just happens that I joined fatsecret in the middle of my week. So, I lost 4 lbs in a week. My weigh in's have been anywhere for .2 lb loss to 4 lb loss. Nothing higher.

I started my way of living on October 17th, 2007 when I got back from a week in Hawaii and saw the pictures! I was in a size 14/16 and heading on a downward spiral. I was not exercising and eating whatever I wanted. I bought a book by Dr. Oz called You on a Diet. That book is what changed my way of thinking about my body and what food does to it. Now not eating those Reeses peanut butter cups and the fried chicken is alright with me. I went to the Doctor and had a full blood work done. My cholestoral was good but the bad one was a little high, not above what they say the max is.
I decided to make a change. My Doctor gave me advise and so I started taking my vitamins. I have my blood work done every month to see the progress and I also bought a blood pressure kit that you manually do, not automatic. He said the manual one is more accurate than the machine one. I also started on that day to exercise. Dr. Oz says that you should exercise everyday, no day off. You should treat exercise like you do sleep. If you miss a day of exercise, it is like you have missed a day of sleep. I have not missed one day for 9 weeks. I am walking 4 miles a day and jogging an extra 1 mile every other day. I also do 20 minutes of the pulley rope every day and 20 minutes of free weights every other day. I eat 1 square of 72% Cocoa chocolate and I eat 12 almonds 20 minutes before each meal. It will keep you from over eating. I also watch my portion size. I drink 1 gallon of water a day also. For breakfast I eat steel cut oatmeal that I can only find in the natural health store here. I eat it with 2 T. of yogurt and 6 walnuts. I would say that the answer to yo yo dieting is not being taught about your body and how it works with foods and how to know when you eat something if your body is having a hard time with digesting it. If we know how our body works, it will be easier to leave certain foods alone. I would highly recommend his book, You on a Diet.
