Delicious grill luncheon today featuring shrimp and tilapia. Sides also cooked on the grill were a small white potato with skin, green red yellow bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, garlic stuffed olives and artichoke hearts. The olives were a bit of a splurge but I just enjoy them too much. Despite the olives jacking up the sodium, I will still be well below 1000 mg of sodium for the day which is my goal. And if I understand correctly that's approximately 50% of the maximum RDA recommended by the American Heart Association and 75% less than the typical American consumes per day.

Enjoyed a delicious turkey taco bowl for lunch today! It was a little decadent but still only 265 sodium,8g of bad fat, and less than 4g sugar. While it delivered over 30g of protein and two servings of vegetables. Made possible by my latest discovery R W Garcia low-sodium blue corn tortilla chips (serving size of eight chips less than 50 sodium). Used a fat-free sour cream home dressing and homemade jalapeno salsa. Absolutely delicious!

Had the jury rig my Hoyer lift so that my weight could be accurately measured. Took a while to put that together so this first official weigh-in shows 4 pounds lost. The 165 pound was a guess at the starting point of this process on May 3. At weigh-in last week weight came in at 166. So reflecting the net loss of 4 pounds which gets me to 161. Because the guess at starting point was 165. This brings all measurements current.
My diet is a particularly challenging one to manage has I am trying to achieve multiple goals. I am trying to significantly lower my sodium intake to get my blood pressure down. I am trying to maintain total calories from fat (the even including the good fat) to under 35% of total caloric intake. I am trying to maximize fiber at between 25 and 30 g per day while eating nothing that includes any added sugar so the sugar that I do intake is all natural sugar contained in the fruits and vegetables.

Enjoyed a broiled tilapia filet today! It was served on a bed of long grain white rice and sweet peas.
