That sucks, but ask yourself.. is that pizza or cake or what ever going to help the situation? If not, then chose another action. If so, even as a temporary salve to spirit, then go for it with out guilt or recrimination. Enjoy it then get right back on track and look for another way forward to your goals. There are always multiple ways to the top of the mountain.
