How old are your kids? I have 2 little ones (ages 2 and 5) and we totally do outrageous things inside during rainy days. Make a tent out of sheets and camp out in the living room, do some major art project, turn music up loud and dance a lot, stuff like that. Keeps me younger and not quite as bummed by the rain. We also take rain walks, if the rain is drizzly (we used to live in Seattle...) Doesn't work in a thunderstorm, obviously, but if we can enjoy the way the rain makes everything drippy and splashy and different from normal, then it seems fun to be out for a little while. Of course, it takes 20 minutes to get ready for a 5-8 minute walk, then they always want a bubble bath or something afterwards... but it's a fun way to get out of the house.
Good luck!
