Seems I'm eating pretty much whatever I want these days with no ill effects. I've been working out more; martial arts and Charles Atlas daily, weight lifting once a week, and gardening as the wife's work schedule allows. My way of eating has changed over the last six months, not nearly as strict, I don't track, just intuitively know when, what, and how much. Diet and exercise, body image, shame; it's hard to quantify the impact of the physical on the psyche, but the battle rages on, at least it has for me, long after the weight battle has been fought.

I think that battle rages on for just about everyone; look at how many of us (myself included) get close to our goals or even achieve them and turn right around and gain it back. There are so many diet books with sections on maintenance, but no books on maintenance. Maybe that should be the book you write, Phil, as you go through this portion of the journey? Gather and include in it anecdotal information from those who are succeeding at maintenance.

Trackin64 is onto something, Phil. This could be your best seller! Wishing you well and looking forward to hearing about your gardening and produce adventures through the summer 👍🏻

good news many have ridden the roller coaster to long, I love when I realize how nowadays I automatically make better choices, shocking changes when you think about it and so satisfying! Cheers to permanent change

It is weird. I automatically make better choices and hate to miss the gym...but the little demon will sometimes come up and I believe I can slip in old habits, too. The key is I catch myself more quickly and work to stop the runaway train

"Runaway train" - yep, that's what happens with me and it starts with a gentle slope (aka slip) and from there gains momentum.
