The only thing that works for me is Banting.
Low Carbs, High Fat - the Tim Noakes plan.
In short it's not high protein, but high fat.
Think about no rice/bread/potatoes/corn etc and only occasionally an apple.
Balance is green veggies and meat, but keep inside you calorie allowance.
So, biltong and eggs and Nando's chicken!!
