What's the CH20s and sugar?

@Buradimari if you compare Greek yogurt to regular yogurt, the Greek yogurt has more protein and is more dense. The regular yogurt tastes watered down in comparison. I don't buy flavored yogurt anymore. I add my own fruit when I want it sweet or chives etc for a savory treat or dip.

Greek yougurt is just regular yogurt that has been allowed to strain longer so that more of the whey drains off. Lots of nutrients drain off with the whey.

Sarg0n ~ Although my main focus is protein, fiber, and calories and I’m really not concerned with carbs or sugar (except in the context of calories), they’re pretty comparable considering the quantities of each. The blended Greek yogurt (left), sweetened w/ cane sugar, has 15g carbs & 14g sugar. The one with added fruit (right), sweetened w/ stevia, has 24g carbs & 15g sugar. If I remember correctly, a lot of the sugar in dairy comes from lactose regardless.

gimme the big one 😂 but also... I need to defend the honor of loose yogurt, lol. I love that texture.

yogurt is super easy to make! you whisk a cup of yogurt into a gallon of milk and leave it overnight at 90 degrees. then you can strain it to whatever consistency you like. longer ferments will reduce the lactose. IMO the issue with the one on the left is that the extra sweetener and flavoring train one's palate to expect flavor bombs all the time, and the joys of "real" food are a little more subtle... oh yeah and it's too small :p

johncip ~ lol, no yogurt discrimination here, I love all yogurt. I mainly eat Greek for the protein. I also love making yogurt because you can make your own unique blend of whatever probiotic you want. I sous vide mine at a preferred temperature of 106 degrees for 36-hours and it always turns out great. So true about the “extras” training our palates (and our minds) to expect flavor bombs. Subtle and real flavors are definitely under appreciated and often overlooked.

Homemade yogurt is the best. It's great to be able to tweak things.
