Ah the Avocado...
My first taste of this this morning is not impressive. I must say I would love to incorporate it into my diet but I have to research recipes that make it palatable. I know there are probably thousands of recipes out there so Im looking. I had to add a tsp of Lighthouse Greek Feta dressing to a half avocado this morning just to swallow it . Noticing also that I am almost 3 months into Keto and I need to start balancing more of my Fat/Protein/Carb because I sense I am losing fat yes but more muscle than I desire. My ratios are always right on with spot. 70/24/6 or close to that range. I am going to add 100% Whey Protein nightly with my almond cashew milk and see if it changes. The muscles in my arms are very achy and the upper legs are more achy the last month and I am a cashier so I am using them all the time for 3-5 days 8 hour shifts with lots of lifting and movement. Cant figure out why all of a sudden in the past month since I have been doing this body aerobic type work Im feeling discomfort. So its the treadmill for me to stregnthen the leg muscles I will work with the 5 lb weights to build my arms. Its not like the arms dont get a workout they seriously do. Suggestions?

Amazing and simple...I LOVE avacado. Try mashing them with just plain salt and pepper. Or, (if allowed on your plan) mash it an mix in (to your taste) some title tomatoes with green chiles, kind of a quick cheat guacamole if you will. It's awesome on pork rinds! Good luck :-)

Hi Patty - I love avocado's, but don't think I could stomach them for breakfast. Try incorporating the avocado into your lunch. My go to weekend lunch: Flax seed roll-up; 4 oz of chopped chicken breast; 1/2 avocado; 1/2 tomato; couple of Tbs of mozzarella; and a couple of tablespoons of a quality salsa (I use Green Mountain Gringo garlic roasted).

I like alvacado smushed in with my runny egg yokes, smushed with a little lime juice as a salad dressing, guacamole, and alvocado deviled eggs.

I like to halve the avacado, scoop out the center, drop an egg in the hollowed out center, add some salt/pepper, put the avacado back on top of egg with some cheese and bake. Great, fast, and filling breakfast!!!

I'm starting to incorporate them too. I don't particularly care for them (I think it's the texture) but I don't despise them either. I know our local Albertsons has a really wonderful Guacamole in their deli area. I do like that a lot!

I love avocado, just added one to my afternoon food diary, I eat a lot of them plain or in guacamole, can't fathom anyone not liking them, maybe you'll acquire the taste.

There's this funny recipe I found where you can scoop the pit of the avocado out and bake and egg in its place, weird but super tasty

The ripeness can affect the taste and texture dramatically. Maybe yours was still too firm?

Muscles are never static, either Atrophy (Loss), or Hypertrophy (Gain). You can feed them as much Protein as you want, however, without work (which is all they understand), they will continue to Atrophy. If you want to work on the legs, set the incline to a higher level on the treadmill, or mix it up with the stepper. For your upper body, you have to lift weights. If you can pickup that 5lb weight and do a gazillion reps....it's not work. The muscle has to be worked to be able to respond and grow. When the muscle is worked, you ask it to do work that it struggles with. Micro tears are introduced and when the muscle repairs, it grows to accommodate the work being asked of it. Loading the muscle is gradual over time, start light and gradually look to increase. Focus more a complete Upper Body....Back, Chest, Biceps, Triceps, Shoulders. The Back and Leg muscles are the largest in the body...you want to get those going to help accelerate your fat loss. In addition to building muscle, weight training builds stronger bones, as your skeletal frame has to bear the weight of what you are lifting.

I add it to salads, tunafish, deviled eggs, salsa when I make lettuce wraps...you could also buy avocado oil...get all the benefits, without the taste...use it like olive oil, it makes great salad dressings...

Suggestions.. for the achy legs/arms, since you're like me, doing Keto, add salt to your food. For some people it may seem like a foreign idea, but go out and find some course salt that you like the taste of. I've got both smoked and Hawaiian Pink Sea Salt.. I salt EVERYTHING! An issue that new Ketoers experience is those leg and muscle cramps; salt should fix it. Give it a few days of use. Secondly, as far as your avocado goes, something that I like to do is take a seedless half, spooned out, face down in a pan and fry it. Not looking to blacken it but to brown it up which takes time. That avocado half, eggs and bacon are an awesome breakfast.

Try adding a little balsamic to your avacado until you get used to it.
