So two stories about my morning:

Story #1, funny: Since it was POURING this morning here I decided I should probably take the flag in like a good American. So I had no shoes on, shorts, and a t-shirt. I opened the storm door planning on just running out there the 2 feet to our stand, grabbing it, and running back in. READY, SET, GO!!! I ran out, grabbed it, ran back to the door...I tried once, twice, three times...OMG THE DOOR WON'T OPEN…OMG IT’S FREAKING MONSOONING...OMG IT'S 39 DEGREES OUT AND I'M IN MY PJs!!! The inside handle was too far over behind the jamb, so it kept hitting it so it just WOULD NOT OPEN! So I run, in the monsoon, no shoes, in my PJs, through our semi-flooded, semi-icy yard, flag flying behind me, to our garage. What a sight I'm sure! LUCKILY, we have a keypad so I could just type in the code....which I had to enter twice because my fingers were so cold I hit the wrong button the first time!! The door CREEEEEEEPED up, OMG HURRY UP...can't wait, so I barrel-rolled underneath...still carrying that flag!!UGH!!!

Story #2, not funny: Right before I got into the shower (after all this flag business) I heard a big BOOM!! I walked out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel thinking the dogs did something. Nope, they’re just laying on their dog beds in the bedroom. So I got in the shower….as I got out, I heard sirens….not abnormal since we live across from a hospital. Then I heard more sirens…hmmmmm odd….must be a car wreck since the weather’s so crappy. So I go about my business, let the dogs out before I leave….and the WHOLE town is full of smoke. I mean, at first I thought it was super foggy cause of the weather, but then I smelled it. It was so strong that I walked all the way around the house, into the basement, into every room, thinking our house HAD to be on fire because the smell was so strong. Couldn’t find anything, then I looked out the window because I heard more sirens…a fire truck heading south, which just happens to be my way to work. So I got in my car and as I’m headed around the corner to get to the interstate I saw flames SHOOTING up into the air over the tops of the trees along the road. I have never seen such a big fire, it was insane! All you could see were flames and black smoke! One of the houses in this tiny little subdivision was fully engulfed with flames literally shooting everywhere…just crazy! I really hope everyone is ok! With how windy it was this morning I just don't know how they would have kept it contained! Scary stuff!

***And completely unrelated, I am craving bacon so hard right now!

Glad you got back inside ok after the door malfunction. Brings to mind once when I was in the boonies at my cabin, went outside in my undies to pee early morning, shut the door, locked myself out. Had to walk down the mountain (barefoot and undies) to another cabin owned by a friend. After they all laughed and mocked me a while they gave me a lift back and got me in with their key. That fires sounds scary, must have been an explosion?
