Good Morning Self,
Exercised yesterday before dinner. Good Job Self. Tested glucose before bed with a reading of 102. OK. Figured would drop through the night and wake up in the 70-99 range. Test at wake up was 109. I am assuming the Dawn Phenomenon is influencing the numbers. Following the readings of Jason Fung, M.D., I am lead to believe that the body is calling for the increase in glucose prior to wake-up. Even though the body is releasing insulin, the body can not absorb it (insulin resistance).

Take away - I am waking up at 4 AM. I have increased blood glucose levels. Time to burn it through exercise rather than endure more hours of restless sleep. Burning more calories for the day and building more muscle will improve insulin sensitivity. My body is telling me it wants to flush the stores from my liver. I need to listen and actively assist in doing so thus countering the NAFLD.

Also, working on an intermittent fasting routine. I am delaying BREAKing my FAST until around noon. With late dinners, this creates a 16 hour to 8 hour fasting / eating ratio or a 2:1. 16 hours for my body to consume the energy from my system and improve it's function. Even if intermittent fasting does not drive weight loss directly, I can use it as a tactic to reduce total calories for the day.

Positive note - new low today of 207.8 lb. That is a solid 20+ pounds lost since the night in the ER on August 9th. The fight continues.
