Don't like getting on the scale precisely because of what I saw today. I have gained almost everything back, minus 15. Cry Cry Baby

You're getting way too many carbs and not enough protein. No offense, hope you don't mind the feedback, just saw your calories for today and it looks like you're getting a majority of your caloric intake from carbs. To drop fat and gain lean mass (which helps to drop even more fat), you should be getting about 30-35% of your calories in protein, 40-45% carbs, and the remainder as fat (as low as possible). Instead of eating the cheerios at breakfast, you might try oatmeal with fruit as that contains fewer carbs and higher protein. You could also swap the bread in your lunch for a serving or two of quinoa, which contains more protein than carbs and is really quite good for you (and very low fat). One other thing, my trainer has me eating a pound of spinach for lunch every day and it has done miracles for me. I had to work up to it slowly, starting with 2-3oz of greens (kale, spinach, etc) at lunch. The greens are important because they are high in protein and amino acids, and contains all kinds of stuff that is really really good for your heart, digestive system and all kinds of other stuff. It'll make your hair really shiny and soft, and will help minimize sugar cravings as well as help you keep lean mass while shedding fat. Good luck to you! I wish you the best, and know you can get back to your goal weight - set your goals, don't give up no matter what, and above all else, be sure to thank and encourage yourself for the hard work. You can do it!

I completely agree with Linuxpro. You may also want to look into switching out those cheerios, as mentioned, with complex carbs and/or fiber in your breakfast. They'll keep you full for a longer amount of time while giving you the energy you need to last throughout the day. Also, if you're going to try adding spinach, kale, etc...I would be a little carefule with those. They contain lots of minerals which if eaten too much, they may solidify in your body and may turn into kidney stones. I'm pretty sure you don't want to try and pass those.

@dmalek - about the kidney stones, I've had issues with those in the past. Back when I was eating fast-food 3 times a day with pizza as a midnight snack. Salts (sodium) are generally the cause of kidney stones, or too much animal protein in the diet. My trainer eats 3 pounds of greens every day, and has for the last 5 years, and says his health (especially vascularity and muscular development) has increased greatly. I checked with my doctor before starting the high-greens addition to my diet and he said the only "problem" I might experience would be the short-term effects related to my digestive tract getting a good cleanse. I used to have digestive problems big-time but since starting my greens diet, I'm seeing amazing results - no heartburn, no digestive issues, and my energy level has increased greatly. Not to mention, my muscle recovery after intense workouts has increased greatly, to the point that I'm at full recovery within 12-24 hours. Of course, before making any dietary changes, one should consult with their regular doctor. However, if your doctor is like mine, they're going to give you a huge smile and a lot of encouragement when you tell them you plan to eat a pound of veggies every day.

thanks for the advice guys! I will definitely take these tips into account next time I go out shopping. I kind of started this up again on a whim, without really preparing my fridge for the change, but I'm going to stock up on greens and protein next time I head out. What do you all think about seaweed? I really like this dried variety, soaked to clean it, and mix it with a bit of chickpeas and basil :D

@Linuxpro-I'm going to have to try and add some more greens. Fortunately I haven't had any problems like the ones you listed...Knock on wood. I love romaine, fresh baby spinach, etc...But hey, more vegetables (greens) can't be that bad then. @RabbiesLoveFood-Seaweed...interesting... You'll have to let me know how that turned out for you. As a quick thought, I could see chopping that up and wilting it down in a frying pan, and adding that to a homemade alfredo sauce (low calorie of course), whole wheat/high fiber pasta (farfalle) and adding grilled lightly seasoned chicken to it. A modified version of chicken alfredo. Just came to me like that.

dmalek, that actually sounds really good, might replace the sauce with some peanut or sesame oil and a little kosher salt.
