Good Morning Friends, not to long ago I went to my doctor and she wanted to run some tests on my blood. Well yesterday, I happened to look up the results, and I was a little surprised but not really. I am not sure if I am saying this correctly or not but, I think it is your A1C, if that is your sugar count, well mine was 5.7. Just a tiny bit over the average range. It really made me stop and think, so to say the least, I am cutting way back on my ice cream intake, along with other sugary things. May have to go to some sugar free stuff to get things back on track.
I hope that you all have a wonderful and blessed day.

Cutting back on sugar can only be a good thing weather you have high sugar counts or not. Good luck.

My boys were able to get off their diabetes med by completely going low carb. Sugar is the culprit for most things...

Sherrie, that's where mine was which really got my attention as the doc said I was approaching the pre-diabetic range. But it's come back down to normal since then. Cutting back on simple carbs/sugar and increasing fiber should help, as will increasing exercise.

High blood sugar is not something you want to mess with. Time to get serious ;-)

Carbs.... the evil ones that we all love are also very responsible for elevated A1C levels. Bread, pasta, pretzels along with sugar or the donuts, candy, ice cream, etc.

Normal range for Hemoglobin A1C (according to my doctor) is 4.0-6.0 so you are getting close. The others gave good advice. The only thing I could add is that yogurt and cottage cheese do have sugar in them from the lactose of the milk they were made from, but the protein in them is very healthy. It's better to reduce bread and starchy veggies, if you eat them.

sherrie some of the best ways to lower blood sugar are (((burn off sugar use up the glucose in your bloodstream with physical movement for at least 10 min)))and drink lots of water, water helps dilute the blood and flushes out the sugar from your bloodstream
