When you fall down, just get back up. I like to make myself feel bad when I slip up. I wish I could stop those guilty thoughts after I had a less healthy meal.

How do you cope with slipping up?

Heard one dr on some podcast I listened to give an example of a person who goes on holiday, has fun and enjoys even the not so healthy food and gets back from the holiday without gaining any weight. Secret, enjoying what you eat has some kind of positive impact on your body in how it deals with the food. When you go on holiday, are super conscious of everything you eat, the stress makes you gain weight. I hope it makes sense. Don’t know how true it is but that is what I tell myself every time I eat not so healthy. While eating I just make sure I enjoy what I am eating and get back to healthy afterwards. But I also think really looking at this weight loss holistically is more sustainable than denying ourselves. https://podcasts.apple.com/za/podcast/dhru-purohit-podcast/id1381257272?i=1000545160323 link to podcast

my method... if you bite it, write it! don't keep secrets from yourself, don't try pretend it didn't happen. log the calories. acknowledge it. make an informed and conscious choice the next time.

@Shereen, yeah, that 'lying' to yourself does not work. I've actually started being honest since last year August I think. I actually came to realize that I was eating way more than I was exercising, especially when I started looking at my weekly calorie counts. That was an eye opener.

@Leksie Slipping up is nothing new to me🤣🤣 I used to slip up daily (alcohol or drugs or some stupid thing). Now my slip up is a burger with all the toppings and a shake. So I am getting "better" Look at where you were compaired to where you ARE. YOU'VE CHANGED!!! Take it in. Carry on. YOU'VE GOT THIS

I am not on a diet, this is a lifestyle, I "cheat every single day", I always allow myself something nice every day, but I log every single thing I put in my mouth, as long as I stay in my calorie budget. If I deny myself something, then that's exactly what I will want, I have learnt discipline though, instead of eating a whole slab of chocolate, I can now eat a block and be happy with it😁, don't think of it as slipping up...

Thanks @Charmaine. I'm also not on a diet, but like last night, hubby wasn't "feeling" the healthy food we had planned, so we had Burger King instead. But, moving on! Everyone has a valid point so far. And I just love the support & kindness we get here.

What is currently working for me is logging my lunch and dinner so I know how many calories I have left over for the day, then making the conscious decision this chocolate or cookies or whatever or something healthier. Mostly healthy or nothing because I'm not even hungry wins, but sometimes a treat wins. As long as it doesn't push my calories over daily max or on special occasions I average out the weekly.

I love chocolate and good food too much to live my whole life on a diet. I try to respect my calories almost every day but if I feel the urge for cakes, ice cream etc I allow myself knowing that the next day I will continue my good habits. I had entered a phase of guilt that devastated me even in my sleep, I only thought about the fact that I had missed my day, and sometimes I deprived myself the day after to eliminate the calories of the day before. 😔 I decided to accept myself above all else. I admire how honest you are with yourself. 🌼🌼

@lapucee, I think you have a good way of approaching it. One shouldn't look at it as slipping up.

Everyone has a bad day or two you just need to keep in mind how many good days got you to this point. Celebrate the small victories. you will soon seen how great you really are.

I am hatd on myself and this is not healthy for me. However, it's like quitting smoking, one hour, one day at a time.

@BurnItBeamic, thanx for the advice, but I do IF & OMAD, so I don't snack. I do have fruit after dinner if I feel like something sweet.
