Yfritz asked about my breadmaking adventures. This is sourdough surprise bread. The surprise is that there is leftover rice baked into it which I cannot taste, feel, or see. I also cannot taste much sourdough flavor, perhaps because I used a yeast that is supposed to replicate sourdough rather than an actual sourdough starter. In any case, it’s delicious. Gonna look for some more reduced gluten or gluten free options next as the whole wheat walnut bread did not agree with my partner’s tummy. And someday also will have a real strong sourdough to share.

Hi ACB it’s red star brand instant sourdough, yeast plus sourdough culture. There’s not much in the package though, so I think it’s a volume issue. That’s a 1-lb loaf in the picture (with slice removed).
