There are plenty of cooking suggestions on the inner web for "it". I used to think it was the monthly punishment to eat this dish when I was growing up. Now, I love it. Nothing with a dip in soy sauce full of sriracha wouldn't fix, hahaha.
But I've always eaten this similar to the Cantonese style stir fried bitter gourd with eggs, if you G-search the Cantonese style. Good luck. 😀
