Diario de Asarver, 23 mar. 14

I ran a 3.1 miles today on the same track I ran my first 5K on in August. I could run almost the entire way (I maybe walked for a full minute). However, I only cut about 1 minute 40 seconds off of my time from August. I must say, I'm a little disappointed considering in August I could only run about 2 miles non stop. I thought I should have shaved more off of my time.

I was reading a few artciles on Active lately about how your weight affects your running speed (obviously). Truth is, I'm 10 pounds heavier now than I was in August. I think this might be part of the reason I was only able to trim 1 minute 40 seconds off of my time. I'll be running outside the rest of the week if it isn't raining, and we'll see how well I do.

At least I've found even more motivation for losing weight.

I think that's awesome that your endurance has gone up so much. The overall run time may not seem that different to you, but 1:40 seems a fair difference already. I imagine other conditions will impact your time also. It may have been the same track, but what about your clothes? wind and humidity? Whatever the case, it sounds like you'll be able to see greater changes soon since your body is more accustomed to jogging than it used to be! Good luck with your runs this week! :)

I can walk a mile at a good clip in 15 minutes, not a runner. After that I really start losing time but I'm pushing through as I am going to walk that 5K on April 12. Thankfully it is not a timed event :)

Interval training makes you fast. I'm heavier now but can still run a sub 2 hour marathon (ran it in Feb). It's how strong your legs are and conditioned. Weight does make a difference but less weight won't necessarily make you faster.
