I've had a fat secret account for several years - it goes with the ups and downs of weight loss. I've been quite successful at losing weight a few times over the years, but the backsliding is a killer. I am really trying hard now to make the habits for life to try to reinforce the "habit" part, not the diet part. Let's face it - we DO want to lose weight. I have lost 11 lbs since I re-committed in early Feb. but I have had struggles on a few individual days. I am still trying to find my groove at adding consistent exercise into my routine. With 3 kids ages 9 - 16 all with school, activities and other needs, it's difficult to make that time for me and still manage the house. I have made some other lifestyle changes over the last few months in preparing to focus on me. First, we changed parishes from one that was several towns away to one that was in town. We have links to both, but stayed with the parish that all my kids were connected to through their elementary school. Now that 2 are soon to both be in high school, it's becoming a harder burden just to travel to regular services or to participate in things like finance council or other volunteer activities. We also changed the organization 2 of the kids play basketball with for the same reason. The commute was eating so much of our life. Activities in our own town have been much better for my time constraints. We are no longer going to the gym in the further town either, but I haven't found a local substitute, whether that's walking, a home dvd or joining the gym in town. Rather than try to do everything at once, I have been carving out real changes and trying to stick with them and use that momentum to drive the weight loss forward as well. I am soooooooo sick of the snow. I used to be the vocal New Englander who loves all 4 seasons - I am so fine with just 3 now. I can easily see myself as a snow bird in my retirement!
