I strongly urge you to read the Atkins book "Dr Atkins' New Diet Revolution" as it will give you all of the information you need to successfully do Atkins. Based on your journal it appears that you are not eating enough food. If your calorie intake is too low it will slow your metabolism and then it will become quite difficult to lose any weight. Sure the pounds fall off in the beginning but the down side isn't worth it. Cheese is just fine on Atkins as are many other foods. Please, please, please read the book so that you fully understand what Atkins is all about. It will also help ensure your success now and in the long term.

Hi - I agree with Slease. Start by reading the book. That will give you a good foundation and eating enough food is very important. In answer to your question, I commonly eat the following foods (not all at once :))... Breakfast - eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese. Lunch and Dinner - roasted chicken, roasted turkey, salad, spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, broth based soup (homemade), low carb pita (Toufanyan and Josephs), buffalo burgers (Trader Joe's), ground beef. Snacks - pepperoni, procuitto, cheese, almonds, small amounts of peanuts, celery, peanut butter, EAS Carb Advantage drinks. If you are struggling for ideas I would suggest checking out the Kitchen. There are some good recipes here. Also, check your local used book store. There are good low carb cookbooks out there that you can get cheap. Good Luck.

They are right - try to eat more. I understand you may not be very hungry on Atkins - I am not lately so have been eating almonds to get enough calories in for energy at breakfast. Try to avoid sugar but get the book. You should also be trying to exercise too, I finally will join a gym in the next month or two so you can add extra food to your food intake. The suggestions above are so true - please listen to their advice!

With Atkins don't count calories just count carbs. Don't worry about fat. Count the net carbs as long as you can lose weight. As was said check out the kitchen section for Atkins recipes. Also, you might check out About.com Laura Dolson low carb as she has really a good concept of the lifestyle of low carb eating. Go to Atkins.com as well. The new Atkins books is not as good as his original concept but is still good. With small children it is more difficult to keep focused on low carb eating but it is possible and you will be happy with the results and how you feel long term. I have heard good things about Curves. The diet they promote is not low carb so don't get sidetracked by diet suggestions but just work out on their equipment.
