I have decided that a more active life style would be in my best interest. I can feel my bones creak and my body aches, however I'm 22! I don't feel that I'm unhealthy, just a little out of practice. It's hard to incorporate action into your life, when mother nature has other plans for you. For example, it is currently -20 degrees outside!! and 2 feet of snow on the ground!! Usually if I could, I love to go for walks, or bike rides. If I can help it, I'll walk to the store rather than drive, I'm old school like that. I have just recently my job as a server which was very active, however, it was at a hotel and had soooo much amazing goodies around and free food. I gained almost 40lbs working there in 3 years! So I removed myself from that enviroment for more reasons that one to find myself an awesome job at Nordstrom! Again, however, it is a desk job, and I'm GOING CRAZZY! I have been here for 2 months (ever since the winter weather really started) and I'm just feeling the anxiety of my inactivity build. Soo, to remedy this, I am starting a Jillian Michaels workout tape (good or bad, time will only tell). It's so funny how life works, trading one very active however equally tempting job with a far less tempting but less active job. So far, I haven't put on or lost any weight, so I consider this a good thing. Oh, how the universe truley has a twisted sense of humor.

As far as today goes, I'm doing just fine. I'm not all that hungry today, and really only eat half of my portions, which I view as an exceedingly good thing considering I am often a bottomless pit. I have made a concious decision to do my work out challenge tomorrow and then on and also weigh in for the second time!! Very excited for this. I'm kind of using this week as a "log" week, so to speak to really see how much I eat as apposed to how much I use. I'm already seeing some really telling things from my diet (ie. my disgustingly indulgent daily fat intake). I am also making more meals this week that I have before! It's kind of hard to eat vegetables that aren't from a can this past week due to the fact that I don't have a fridge and need to get one!....but life is good!

I too went from a serving job where I gained weight to a sitting job where I had no activity! It's rough. Very rough. I eat better at a desk job, though, so I consider this to be the better fork in the road. I feel good when I exercise, but I feel better when I eat better. You don't have a fridge?! :O

Just wanted to throw this out there as it came from my Doctor. "You live in Wisconsin, there will never be perfect weather to go outside and exercise, so deal with what you have and get moving." Simple enough to live by and something I try to do each and everyday. It is a choice we all have to make....

Start now....then keep it up -- when you get to be 44, it's harder to come off. ;0)

I am feeling pretty confident that this change in my job has a very positive effect, even just with the stress level. I used to serve breakfast---people get mean when they don't get their coffee 30 seconds after they order!!! plus a boss that I was working for was a walking stress ball himself. And on top of that I'm a stress eater so I had all of these awesome goodies around and....you get the picture. So I'm definatley in a way better place now. And living in the midwest as far as activity wise goes is no excuse to not get out and get active. It's more of adjusting to this new schedule and working in time to work out as opposed to doing it whenever I get off at my old job. But I REALLY can't wait until I can get out to the National park near my house and hike!..and my midnight bike rides are really fun as well. I'm really happy that I have found this website! IT IS WONDERUL! Thank you all so much for your wonderful support!

I am in the same boat. I went from working in a production environment where it was non-stop to now a desk job, which I have been at for 3 1/2 yrs. and have gained over 40 lbs. My goal is to do the same as you are. MOVE!!! I do have a treadmill at home that I just bought and look forward to MOVING!! I am glad to hear that I am not the only one struggling and that this is in place to find motivation in others. Good luck
