I decided to keep my journal 'real' and honest because I KNEW this journey I would make successful and I thought it would be interesting reading for myself in the future when I was at or near my goal weight and size. I never seriously thought others would be interested in reading it and Im constantly amazed at the support, and friendliness from others here (going through exactly the same things Im going through) from people who read my ramblings and either reply or send private messages. To all of you THANK YOU so much it is so cathartic sharing.
OK so yesterday was a strange day indeed, and proved to myself yet again the ridiculously simple fact that I've very often said to others that fasting is so easy to do, and moreover that it is easier to not eat, than figure out what to eat, or how much, or what calories, or carbs are in something when you are faced with the temptation to eat something.
So yesterday I was stoked with the weight loss from the day before (a fast day)so was looking forward to a 2400 calorie day, and it was a Friday, so a few drinks at home with my wife and family needed to be factored in. Well I aced it, three really good healthy meals and allowing for three bourbon and diet cokes I felt full, relaxed and guess what? after dinner I - and my three bourbons - I still had a whopping 400 calories left. So we all sat down to play a board game, my wife, daughter and her partner and me, and my wife got the dish of various chocolates out that were Christmas leftovers and while playing I munched away.........after the game I was horrified how many I had eaten. So from minus 400 cals to well over my RDI, and of course a corresponding increase on the scales this morning.
Thing is, Im fine with it, no guilt, no feeling sulky or wanting to blow my brains out LOL just another lesson learnt and of course I will throw in an extra fast day today to get back on track. So three fast days in seven and not the usual two.
So to anyone reading my idiotic ramblings, considering the IF lifestyle, hopefully you will see just how good it is, how easy to do, how sustainable, and how even when you let your diet hair down guess what IT DOESNT REALLY MATTER, just throw in an extra fast day (which is easy) and get back on track.
I wish everyone a great weekend, as my friend Kingkeld says every post I have an awful lot to be thankful for, and its really good to keep reminding myself of that.
Oh by the way, last night was a really good fun night, with two of my favourite people in the world - my wife and my daughter, and its really nice not to spoil what a good fun night it was by negative feelings about over eating stupid stuff and guilt when I know in my heart it's OK, last night was to be enjoyed for what it was, with the added bonus of another lesson learnt, and validation that this lifestyle is soooooooooo damned right for me. Within six months - and lets face it time whizzes by these days Im going to be a shadow of my former self
