UGH!!!!!!!!!!! I got my bloodwork back and it is SOOOO not pretty. I am going to have to go back on medication and I seriously do not want to. I know I should, (and I mostly listen and the numbers are really scary so I will do so but I have to get used to the idea)

*sigh* so yeah serious blow to my normal cheery self.

What kind of numbers are we talkin'? (yup, I'm nosey) I've been following my bloodwork for a while because that's what first shocked me into getting healthy and losing weight. I know medication sucks, but hopefully it will only be temporary.

I am going to get a copy in two weeks but she said (I believe) 269 over all and 205 LDL. I know enough that those are WAY high, and higher than I have ever been before (I have a history of high cholesterol) All my other numbers inclduing thyroid and liver fuinction were in normal ranges.

It's high, but nothing you can't beat. My big "AHA!" moment with my health came when I donated blood and the total cholesterol came back at 293. My eating habits changed overnight. My total cholesterol is now at 190 (non fasting) with a higher than normal HDL (Hooray BEER!! It's good for HDL, although not for weight). I did it without meds, but that's because I didn't have insurance at the time. It took me more than a year to lower it to where it is now. I hope it gets better (I know it will!). Remember, don't get down because of this. USE IT! This is a perfect reason to continue with your health goals. You CAN do it!

So sorry-I just went back on meds for this after losing almost 30 lbs and "knowing" that exercise and diet would get my numbers down. I am going to try to go med free again after I lose another ten pounds. I have to consider however, that I may have to stay on meds regardless. Bummer! Big picture is to be healthy and if meds help you get and stay there, then so be it.

I'm sorry you had to go back on your meds. Maybe it's just not your time or maybe it's just your body. My husband is 5'9 180 and has been on cholesterol meds for about 16 years. We have tried the diet and exercise route to no avail. Sometimes you body just conspires against you and you have to medicate. It's OTAY!

Densible and bethru are right. Sometimes there's just no way around the meds. I'm in the same boat as you are.....trying to get my numbers down without meds. It's not easy! Hang in there!

Aw, I'm sorry the numbers weren't what you wanted. But it's good to know what you're dealing with. It would be dangerous not to take the meds, right? So just do it, and work on the numbers in the meantime. (((((((((big hugs)))))))))))

Just think of the high numbers as further motivation! I'm sure that, with your continued effort, you will be able to get those numbers down and eventually go off the medication. You can do it!

The important thought is to get the dangerous numbers down. That old expression about doctors knowing best probably applies here. Take care! Keep the faith Kiddo. The important thought is to take the proper care of yourself so that you can have a beautiful, quality life! Love ya!

It's not so bad to have to take med's for a while. You keep working on getting healthier and the med's will disappear eventually. My hubby and I both got off a lot of med's as we progressed to healthier lifestyles and exercise. You can do this.. you can beat it and get off those meds eventually...just keep up what you know works. You CAN do it

Sorry your cholesterol is high and that you have to go back on the meds. I'm sure you can work the numbers down just like your working the scale numbers (weight) down. This is just added incentive to eat healthier and exercise more! You can do it Sima! ((HUGS))
