this is a new way of life. Not a way of life without sweets but a way of life to have the things I love in a healthy way. If I were to try and cut them out(sweets) all together I would certainly be doomed. So I am learning a way to balance them. I know people "preach" about a clean induction but IF you looked at my intake you would see my numbeers are really good. My carbs are under 20 net my protein and calories are up. AND I am losing theweight and inches..I am not a "die hard" and don't plan to be one. I just simply want to lose a few pounds, feel a little better both inside and out, and most of all I want to be happy.

What is all this for if your not truly happy?

Bama, you have to do what is best for you. I, from time to time, will eat some Lindt Dark 85% cocoa chocolate. It only has 2 grams of carbs in a square!

I agree with Stef that you need to do what's best for you. I'm sorry if I came across as "preachy." I was just trying to respond to you and what I interpreted as a cry for help. On Saturday, you wrote, "I messed up last night. Went out and bought a bag of Reese's mini PB cups (sugar free at least) so much for a clean induction....I still feel as though I slipped and who would I be if I didn't call myself out on this? So I will kick myself in the ass for a few days." On Sunday you wrote, "I know I said I was back on track yesterday but the fact is Saturday carried over into Sunday. Yes it was sugar free but I'm not sure how it will affect me. I am sure it would be better to rule out sweets but I'm not sure if I can." Also, at the same time you were "fessing up" about buying candy, your wife Wendy was complaining of "wicked cravings." Of course, artificial sweeteners do just that. The home page of fatsecret features a challenge on artificial sweeteners, and the catch phrase is: "makes your insulin spike = your blood sugar drop = and your appetite go up." I don't know about others who've been responding to you (bc you've posted a lot) but I was just trying to pass along Dr. Atkins' explanations about the importance of staying the course throughout the week, and not just during the work week. So, I hope you will take my responses in the light in which they were intended -- to try to help you -- and feel free to ignore them if it's not right for you. It's infinitely harder to lose weight and keep it off when you're fighting cravings all the time, but you and Wendy are the ones to decide what's most important to you. Good luck, helen

I have to qualify what I said about the chocolate...I didn't eat anything like that for the first 6 months. Now I have a square about once every month or so.

A journal is to record your feelings and thoughts. Thats all I'm doing.I know this is open for comments and I invite them to do so but if I truly have an issue and need help I would ask those in one of the groups I'm in. And for the record I think your a role model. A true die hard that would be great to have around for answering questions..
