This evening I canned 8 quarts of dill pickles. Have to take a count on how many that makes for the year. Then have to make some bread and butter for other family members. Tomatoes are starting to ripen so that will mean making some of my homecanned tomato soup. The apples on my tree appear to be almost ready to pick also. busy times!

My grandmother use to make what they call sour pickles and asa kid those were my favorite.

Tomatoes and apples next, do you make apple botter? My great grandmother had an apple tree in her back yard and I remember her apple butter and the apples and the worm holes hat had to be cutout before you could eat the apple.

Tonya, my Mom used to can every type of pickle imaginable. I only do the dill and the bread and butter at this point. Deegee's Mom, I got a package of seasoning to try apple butter this year. My hubby loves it. I have never eaten it. We will see what happens.

Let me know how it turns out, again I really envy you your gardens lots of work but how rewarding to be able to give your friends and family the gifts of your labor, every jar, not only filled with good tasting foods but also packed with your love.
