Just couldn't sleep last night, so I thought I would write about my first day of dieting in my journal...... No bread products were eaten yesterday which is excellent for me ..... I just love to have a baking day, and enjoy eating fresh bread that's still warm, but I have to resist it, cos when I give up wheat for a few days I notice that I'm not as bloated and it really kick-starts the diet off, but unfortunately I crave bread (I think I'm a carb junky) so I will eventually introduce it back on my diet but in moderation ...... So Hey Ho here we go Day 2 begins ..... MM x

I'm exactly like you and crave bread and bread products, unfortunately though it doesn't like me. Good luck on your weight loss journeys.

Hi Biddie4372 I think the craving all started when I was a child, Mum would do us toast for breakfast or home made crumpets then we would take sandwiches to school for lunch, she too made such lovely bread, cakes etc and that yeasty smell would fill the house .....no wonder I'm addicted ..... but I'm not going to give into it ..... Well not yet anyway ...MM x

Hi Maggy! Congratulations for the beginning of your journey. Bread is delicious indeed. Since you love it so much, maybe you could try to schedule a few times a week to have it (and weigh it, just to make sure you're getting the portions right)? For me trying to build a better relationship with the treats I love usually works better than removing them completely from my life. Anyway, good luck! 💚

Well done, I read somewhere that coconut flour is great replacement for wheat flour as it's low carb, nutritious and low in calories.

Hi Zamalo & MindyJ Maybe on Sunday morning I will slice my bread a little thinner than normal weigh it to try to get the portion and the calorific value under control instead of just guessing ..... I do love my Sunday morning breakfast with all the trimmings, dipping bread in an egg yolk is just heaven, so will try to cut down instead of cutting out ..... will scan the internet for coconut flour recipes, maybe that will stop my belly bloating, never tried it before but there's always a first for everything ..... many thanks for your input most appreciated .... Yep, I miss bread as much as I miss cheese. I stayed off it for a year but now I have 2 slice off Danish for my lunch. When is bread not bread? When it’s Danish light! 😫

If you’re struggling with cravings maybe try livlife bread (Waitrose or online). The slices are small and it’s very seeded but toasted for a sandwich it’s great, or as croutons on a salad. Only 3.8g carbs per slice and 68cals. (Much better toasted than fresh and keeps great in the freezer to stop the temptation of eating the whole loaf at once).

Oh, I Definitely agree mrgscott3 in the past I've used Danish it's like eating milled cardboard very strange as you say to call that bread!!! Chubby Gromit that's a new one, I haven't tried that idea freezing the bread to deter eating the lot ..... thanks both ..... MM x
