It's 3am and I am wide awake. The same thing happened 2 nights ago. I suffer from insomnia often and have trouble sleeping all night. Now that I am home all the time, I figure it doesn't matter if I am wide awake at this time of night because I can sleep all day if I want (and if I can).

I'm making a cup of tea and thought I'd type this up while I wait for it to brew. I can't stop coughing. It's getting worse the more I cough and I thought tea with honey and lemon might help. I also just did a sinus rinse which my allergist tells me I should do every day. I've been spending more time outside - on the deck and in the yard and my allergies are bad and I stopped going in for allergy shots.

I woke up at 3am too. 2am yesterday. Fortunately I don't work until tomorrow. I don't nap, thinking that if I'm more tired at night, I'll sleep better. But it doesn't seem to help. I've struggled on and off with insomnia, and gets worse every year.

I was up also, as I often am in the middle of the night. When my health club was open I would sometimes get up, go there to swim laps, then shower, come home and go back to sleep. Insomnia is easier to deal with since retirement.

Hope you are feeling better. These staying up things happen to me as well.

Feel better soon. I know what it’s like to just wake up like that.

I wake up at 3 a.m. (often times on the dot) a few days a week. I imagine it wouldn't make a difference if I didn't have to work. I'm usually not lagging in energy regardless but it does make me ready for bed by 8:30-9 p.m.

Allergies in Vegas are bad right now. Today I woke up with a sore throat, found out weed pollen very high. And it's going to be windy next couple of days..and hot. Today is supposed to be 102! That's unusual for this time of year. Only God thing is that if true, doesn't heat kill Covid19? Who knows if true or not..🙃

I wake up every nite at least once - I am used to it. I do try to keep myself from munching but if I do I usually just grab some low damage greens and salad dressing. And, if I am really awake, I watch some Tik Tok, that always puts me out Bob

Melissapko - I fall to sleep with the TV on. There has to be noise for me to fall asleep. The TV turns off at 2am and that always seems to wake me up. I did go back to bed and slept pretty good from about 3:30 until almost 8. Shirfleur - the pharmacist told me most retired people or older people (not sure which) have insomnia. Thanks Liv and Jcmama - feeling better now at noon. I did a 2nd sinus rinse. That seems to help wit the allergies. DP - I often fall asleep early and that's probably why I wake in the middle of the night. My doctor told me to try to stay up and not lay in bed watching TV until I'm ready to go to sleep (also not to sleep with the TV on). Diana - my allergies are really bad and I've been leaving windows open at night which doesn't help. I had to turn the A/C on for the first time 2 or 3 days ago and it isn't working right. It's supposed to reach the 90's today. If it's 90 outside it will be 89 in the house! Not getting the A/C fixed until Thursday, when the cooler weather comes in. Perks - I often make a cup of tea or hot chocolate when I am awake and know I'm not going back to sleep soon. Don't have any snacks in the house now and wouldn't eat a salad no matter what! One night I got the step ladder and rearranged the cupboards in the laundry room. Another night I was sitting on the kitchen floor rearranging the pots and pans under the stove.

I hope you are feeling better soon - I have no advice about the insomnia but I know the allergies can be terrible!

Fritzy, I sometimes get up and do some work around the house too. Sometimes I take my morning shower at 3 or 4 a.m. As for insomnia, I've had it most of my adult life; my husband used to come looking for me when he'd wake and find me missing, and that was more than 30 years ago. The only time it bothers me is when I stay up all night, because then I'm just so tired and I still can't sleep. Luckily that doesn't happen often. Sleep well. 💛

I've had the same issues before. Something that might be worth trying is yoga. You can do it before bed or when you find yourself up in the middle of the night. There are a bunch of helpful videos of nighttime yoga for beginners I'd definitely suggest.
