I want to throw my scale up against a wall!!! I feel so defeated! I'm doing what I am supposed to and the scale says such wacky numbers 204 then 201 then 203 then 200 then 205 nothing is consistent. I feel like a failure if the number shows a gain. It makes me want to cheat when this happens.

Jersey, it took me from the May 19 to July 14 to get from the 210 mark to the 199.8 mark. It has taken me from July 14 to now to lose another 5.8 pounds. I know exactly how you feel!! It is a struggle, and that darned scale is such a pain. The really frustrating part is that I was losing at a nice steady clip before (about 1-2 pounds a week), and now I am stuck at 194 and have been since August 14. But I am not giving up. I haven't lost any inches either, but I decided that my body must be in a resting mode. I figure that I am due for a visit from the "whoosh fairy" really soon!! At least I hope so!! So hang in there, you aren't alone! We all go through these spells, and it isn't the fact that we are going through them, it is how we deal with it, that determines our future success!

Clothes have been baggier since start. I just don't wanna gain n b back where I started. I can't tell if the clothes r more baggie. I m just frustrated. It doesn't help that no one around me is dieting. My boyfriends eating pizzas in front of me my moms inviting me over for baked ziti. I just feel like I'm not so supported. And then the scale shows these weights. Its like what's the point

The point is not just the weight loss, but the health effects. Do you feel beter, have more energy, less hunger? These are all benenfits of eating lower carbs. As for the people around you not supporting you, if you just stick with it they will start. Ignore the pizza (I know, it's hard!) or ask your BF to eat it in another room until you gain enough self control to be around it, and when mom asks you over for baked ziti, ask her to save some of the stuffing off to the side, and make a spaghetti squash and put the things that you CAN have over the top of a serving of the squash, or scoop out a zucchini and stuff it instead of pasta. And you may have to remind, remind, remind before people truly get that you aren't eating those things anymore. On a cautionary note, be sure to go through the phases when you get close to your goal, because if you go back to eating the way you were eating before, it will all come back. You need to find out what amount of carbs you can eat without gaining.

D5949's group post(50's with 25-50 to lose) - "Came across this over on another low-carb forum." I found this very informative. Might help you too. :)

You are so not alone im going through the same thing. Ive been so strict with my diet and working out and the last 3 days Ive been gaining according to my scale :( Im so discouraged, I just want to cry as stupid as that sounds. I know i shouldn't weigh everyday but I do and it kills me when I see a gain, its bad enough when its the same but at least im maintaining.....but a gain makes my heart sink. I wanna cheat too but i refuse to let this beat me so im going to push through. I love the idea of throwing the scale up against the wall though!! You are right on there :) Push through it hun!

Marinewifey, that is the spirit. It can be so frustrating, but do some measurements. If you are exercising, then you may be gaining muscle mass and losing inches. And since we all know that mucsle weighs more than fat in the same area (in other words a cubic foot of muscle weighs more than a cubic foot of fat), your weight can go up a bit, while the inches go down. Muscle is simply more dense, but it also burns more calories. Keep up the good work, it will pay off!

Sadly, if we wait for others to support us to be successful in this WOE, we're doomed to fail. Yes, it's absolutely tough and grossly unfair to have to stay on plan in the face of those closest to us turning a blind eye to our situation. But they are not the ones who will have to deal with our health issues, self-esteem issues, etc. - WE are. It would be oh so wonderful to have their support and Stef gives you some ideas of how to manage, but ultimately, we have to all be stronger and more determined than the people and situation around us. We ARE strong. You ARE the strong individual who can do what she needs to do. YOU are responsible for yourself and YOU CAN DO THIS!

Not alone at all. I have been stuck for 19 days now. This is the longest it has gone like this. Before it would usually be 4-5 days between losses. But I am not stopping. Just keep plugging along.

19 days for kboat, 21 for me....I suspect that we are all due for a nice drop on the scales!

Thank you for being soooo supportive! I'm glad I'm not alone. I have vowed to not cheat just vary it up some more. Routines and ruts could be what is stalling me. I am going to push through. I am going to make it!
