went to the doctors last night...good news is that the ankle can be fixed with surgery and the bad news is that i will be out for about 6 weeks...laid up for at least 4 of them...so i will have to be very careful of what i eat and when...
i welcome any suggestions or idea's for snack idea's to eat during the day...i have to be able to make them and preportion them ahead of time as i will not be allowed to stand for the first week at all...
so far i thought celery, cucumber, lil tomato's, triscuitts, cheese strings, nuts,
thanks for any help

One suggestion, have a little cooler by your bedside. Maybe before your husband leaves for work, he can stock it for you. Have some beverages as well as fruits and veggies cut up. Deviled eggs would be good, too. Tasty protein that would take the blah out of hard boiled eggs. Small cans of V-8, too. Perhaps you should also make up some SBD dessers up ahead of time, stored in single serve containers. That way if you get a sweet tooth, you won't go crazy! LOL
Well, those are just a few of my thoughts anyway.
I'll be thinkin' about ya! I remember being put on bed rest when first pregnant, for 1 WEEKEND, and it drove me CRAZY! I'm not used to other people waiting on me so had a hard time staying "down". LOL

those little quaker rice cakes are great...the caramel ones are good to curb a sweet tooth. Also a trail mix, baby carrots, and already cut fruit!

Gosh you've already gotten some great ideas, I love the cooler by the bedside idea! It is a good idea to pre-package your snacks and foods ahead of time so its simple for hubby to load up your cooler.
I am just now hearing about your ankle. I've been busy and not here as much. I am so sorry and hope you're not in pain. To keep from getting bored while bedridden, have some crossword puzzles nearby or some good books that you can get lost in. It helps time go by. Maybe a laptop so you can come here !

Very sorry about your ankle and all the time you need to rest. Also, in addition to all the ideas above you can have hubby prepare large jar of flavored tea, and drink it at room temperature throughout the day. Oh, and prepared diet jello cups!

When are you having surgery? Do you have friends and family set up on a rota to bring your family meals? Maybe a friend could help organize that?
I love baked chick peas, but they might be too veggie like for Veggies yuk? They can be seasoned all sorts of different ways.
I would have to go to the library and get lots of books and DVD's.

the surgery is wednesday may 21st at 1 in the afternoon...we live to far away from people to have someone come in and help...my plan is to stock up on frozen "almost" foods that i can have the hubby put in the oven at 2:30 between his jobs and then i can turn the oven on around 8 to cook until he gets home to help with the plating and stuff...want to have everything preportioned and ready to grab so that i can handle it with the crutches...am allowed up after 1 week...for about 2 hours a day...
