What the ???? Powdered Garlic has 6g carbs per Tbsp & 2g of Sugar ??? Onion powder has 5g of carbs as well... This may be why my carb count is OFF ! Hidden carbs suck :( Information found at : https://nutritiondata.self.com/

But that makes 2g per teaspoon, which is typical amount in a recipe, and divided by all servings in recipe means like 1/4 g per serving, so ....

But you'd choke on a full TBSP of garlic or onion powder! I don't think the portion per serving is bad!

have learned lots of MATH in cooking. 3 teaspoons in a Tablespoon. 4 Tablespoons in 1/4 cup. These two have helped me a lot.

They are not hidden carbs as much as people do not think about how many carbs may be in some spices that they use. Some spice mixes also contains sugars (like taco mixes) so it can up very quickly. If you aim for 20 carbs you need to be diligent and count everything. Great post!!!

GREAT comments ! No I don't use a full TBSP per serving.. But, Just never thought of counting them into my carb count. I cook with loads of spices♥♥ Lol.For the sake of counting the mineral carb amounts ( per serving)in my beloved spices -I'll just cut back to about 17 net carbs daily to allow..

I think vegetables carry 'some' carbohydrates ( we know this right?!?) and things like onions, scallions, and garlic have minimal carbs but carry minimal fiber too. The food is probably a better option then a powder. I use powder on pizza but I cook with full cloves, usually just whole or sliced. A fresh garlic clove is more tasty then the powder. Sort of thinking it is similar to ground pepper versus ground fresh pepper. Taste is heightened due to 'breaking' of a peppercorn and the it seeps out oil and creates a more intense flavor then the powder. Just spitballing and I don't count carbs to the exist of netting; just all carbs and hit a ceiling for my needs and activity level.
