Here I am in Monterey, on our vacation! the view outside of our hotel room is not as fancy as the one we're used to, but I can still see the ocean and hear the sea otters playing in the sunshine all day! This time the CalCom spring conference is being held at the Portola Hotel, rather than at the Monterey Plaza that we're all so used to being at every year. So far, it's been all about meetings and fancy dinners, served with various types of valley Californian wines. We have a choice over chicken or steak, but neither are prepared simply. There's lots of added sauces or gravies...and the sides included with the meal, is anybody's guess! Twice baked potatoes, green beans or asparagus marinated in God know's what! I'm actually feeling pretty sick from all the different types of food I've eaten. yesterday, I really overdid my dinner meal. I paid for that mistake dearly during the night, though!

Today I have been very wise, eating only the fruit that we brought from home, and picking at the suit-and-tie fancy dinner tonight. I REALLY MISS my gym and being able to work out whenever I want! Believe it or not, this hotel is under construction and the gym is closed. That hasn't helped me to feel any better!!

I've been hanging out with a good friend of mine whose husband works for the same company...she and I walked the fisherman's Wharf today while our husband's attended meetings all day. We checked out the various shops and I spent a little time looking for a baby tee-shirt souvinir to put in Jacob's (my 5 month old grandson) Easter basket.

Tomorrow is hubby's free day, so we're going to do some window shopping and visit some little shops and stuff like that. We've been to the Monterey Aquirium a few too many times, so that's not on our list of things to do. I think we might take that famous drive up around Carmel, which will be REALLY NICE!

One of the ladies that was seated at our table tonight told all the women that the Coach purse shop in Carmel is having a 50% off sale on purses that are already 75% off!! Wow!! I might find myself headed in that direction! LOL

That's about all that's going on so far. I'll write tomorrow and let you all know what we ended up doing for the day! I hear that the Marriot Hotel across the street is allowing us to use their gym, so I'm hoping and praying that I get to add a work-out to my list of things to do! I just don't feel good when I skip working out!

I miss you all!!

hugs to you!

Hay, buddy. We miss you also. I hope you get to that gym today, I know it will make you feel much better. Sorry that all that fancy food is not agreeing with you. Don't worry, you'll get right back on track when you get home. Try to get some fun shopping in. I think this will make you feel much better.

Sounds like an exciting trip!! Even though there is not a gym, it sounds like there is plenty of opportunity for lots of walking! Have a great time and good luck with the food!

Did you ever think you would miss exercise!! Maybe a run/walk on the beach could help, or rent a bike and ride around town? I'm sure you will think of lots of things to do there. It's great you have a friend to go with you shopping while hubby is in meetings. Sounds like you are doing the best you can with the dinners. The veggies must be great, they grow them all around that area! And the California wines are wonderful aren't they! Just enjoy your trip, try to take care of tummy so you don't feel bad, and enjoy your trip and you can make up for any indiscretions when you get home. Those sea otter's are adorable aren't they! but those seals are a problem at the wharf aren't they? at least they were the last time I was there (years ago). Have fun! I love your comments, they bring good pictures into my head, thanks!
