Chrisw77 I’m jealous!!! One day though. It’s on my short list. Thor that sounds like a good plan. I like fasting and need to develop a plan. I’ve been having a 200 cal snack at 2 and then eating dinner at 6-7. Plan to get more strict 🙂

CTD: Just my experience but if you have 4 meals a day spaced out every 3 hours your metabolism with rev up. Its up to you how many cals in each. Rule of thumb is eat a minimum of 300 cals per meal. With keto and meal spacing you should drop like a stone.

@IamThor - does that work even if you're not on keto? I'm looking to boost my metabolism and like smaller more frequent meals ad opposed to fewer larger meals.

I find that eating 1000 cals an hour before bed is THE WORST thing you can do. Space out 250 cals over 4 meals and Dee what happens my man Chris.

the body I think does better when it gets a rest. every time you eat you spike your insulin. it takes hours depending on what you eat to reduce that effect. only thing I know that does not spike your insulin a noticeable amount is fat and not too many people will go out and fry up some fat. everytime your insulin spikes the body is geared to store the excess calories. when the level goes down then when the body has no fuel it will start to eat the stored fuel in the body. the fasting process is an example of this. This is how it works in keto and fasting. I don't know if this changes with small meals on non keto meals. I guess it depends on how loaded the meal is to how long the response is. protein tends to be lower effect on insulin and last longer at a low level. carbs are the highest and shorter duration. I know many people do the multiple times a day, but they tend to just eat protein and veggies. a very small amount. I eat when I am hungry. Generally two times a day, sometimes with a snack. But I work out a lot and I really need the fuel.

Yeah what Baskington said. Insulin spikes are what I am trying to avoid. Even if you are not on Keto, paying attention to insulin spikes will make a difference. If your body has no problems with insulin or processing foods in general then it may make a lot less of a difference. OMADers eat a full days worth of calories to get just the 1 insulin spike a day. The “eat multiple meals a day to increase metabolism” isnt actually based on any real science but based off of the notion that you’re burning calories to digest the food. Also your body is programmed to maintain the same weight it’s at and the more you eat, the more calories are burned(overweight); as the less you eat the less calories are burned(less or not over weight) (look up Dr Rudy Leibel’s experiment). I know that eating small meals through out the day helps a lot of people stay on track and lose weight; the success just isn’t in direct corolation to increased meabolism .

I'm saying it's a definite alternative to fasting if you have time to eat right. Most busy people do not have that kind of time. Fwiw= for what it's worth.
