There's a very thin line between an Eating Disorder and Intermittent Fasting. Y'all need to be careful, take care of yourselves and maybe try something more sustainable in the long run.

Agreed!!! It can get really scary seeing people cut down to the same calorie amount that my anorexic friend used to eat before she started getting major health problems 😓 just coz something helps you lose weight doesn’t automatically make it healthy

i have friend who started IF at the same time I did but she carried on and now it's a lifestyle for her, she often skips meals completely and I'm always worrying she's not eating enough.

If it's done properly. U cut down on the amount of meals but still have a very similar calorie intake. So one big meal. Or two moderate meals within a certain time frame.

intermittent fasting is not bad, I do agree though that there has to be a fine line...

Yeah it’s definitely not bad, but some people just push it a bit too far. If it’s done right then it’s great

I agree with you...I also think it is very easy to be obsessed with something dangerous because it gives you results...there has to be a balance!

Extended intermittent fasting has health benefits too. It's not just about weight loss. It starves cancers and allows the body to heal itself too. I'm all for fasting. Just not for the wrong reasons, like promoting anorexia. Alot of people are misinformed about fasting. I'd suggest they do abit of research in the topic before jumping to conclusions

I don’t think anyone is saying IF is wrong or dangerous MapasekaT. Just saying there is a fine line between IF and starvation and we are all advocating for healthy practices here. Not eating disorders.

I do intermittent fasting and keto. Fast a minimum 16 hours a day. some days OMAD but make sure I don't consume less than 1200 cal a day. I'm losing weight and feeling better than I have in years. When I reach my goal weight I'll still fast 16 hours a day. And I'll stick to keto 😊

I totally agree with @mapasekaT. IF has many health benefits, I did my research and you are not starving yourself. You are still eating, healthy food!

Nobody said Intermittent Fasting is bad or dangerous or sent from Hell by Satan himself. Read my post again, 10 times if need be and really understand what I was trying to say. You're 100% correct @kellykii and @Lungelo Nkosi, just because something works for you on your weight loss doesn't mean it's healthy. Health is more important and it can be very hard to find the balance. I hope your friend doesn't fall into the deep end @wings optional .

Again, I'm not saying all weight loss programmes are unhealthy. Some are, some are not, some are not sustainable... You choose whatever you want and work with it. But I feel like most people forget about their health and get caught up in the scale going down... (again, not ALL people).
