I had a good walk tonight...3.81 miles in 1 hr 16 mins.
I have a couple non-scale goals I want to accomplish.
First is to walk 4 miles under an hour.
Second is to complete a 5K...I haven't ran in probably 5 years, so I know this goal might take a while...1 mile at a time I guess :)

Good goals! I'm sure you'll reach those, especially the first, in no time!

Yes, I agree that those are good goals. The "non-scale" goals help me with motivation. I didn't think that I would ever do a half marathon event and due to my weight loss I decided to try one. Walking was a big help for me getting started and I also strived to do 4 miles an hour. Now I walk almost every day of the week and do half marathon distances on many weekends. My goal before the half marathon event was to complete it in under 3 hrs 30 min. My personal best that I had worked up to was 3 hrs 40 min. Well.....I did it in 3 hrs 7 min!! You will reach your goals too!!!

Oh wow that's awesome! It helps to hear from ppl who have been where I am now, and have reached their goals. When you first started running did you follow any kind of training? I found online some websites for training to run a 5k...I'd love to hear what you did?

My exercise when I started this journey at the beginning of March consisted of simply walking and nothing else. I told myself that I would at least make time for walking a few days each week for at least 30 minutes in my neighborhood. My husband was taking the walks with me in the beginning and that really helped to keep me motivated. Once I had been walking for a few weeks and only about 1-2 miles each time, I started to see the difference it was making. I had more energy and started to push myself further. The half marathon was July 28th and you might say I was training for it since March. It started out with those short walks a few days a week and a little bit longer on weekends. Then every other weekend, I started walking further and further until I was up to 13.1 mile walks every other week. Now I enjoy doing those almost every weekend and last weekend I walked farther. The human body is amazing and as long as you work up to your goal slowly and at a pace that feels right to you (with good eating habits), you will be surprised at how much you can do. I am amazed at how much more energy I have now and how good I feel. I am not at my goal weight yet, but it is getting very close. It is taking time because I am working on muscle tone at the same time now and need to lose more fat weight to counter the muscle gain. I will reach my goals and you have the ability to reach yours too! :)

wow 13.1 miles is amazing! The farthest I've done is about 4.5 miles from the house, and I felt a little silly because I had to call my husband to come pick me and the pup up lol I over did it that day. That was a few months ago, so maybe it's time I push myself to go a little further :)
