As it is with most aspects of my life, I don't have much of a "diet plan." My hope is to figure out how to lead as healthy a lifestyle as possible, and it seems like strictly-defined diet plans don't really do that. I'm going to experiment with exercise and food every day, and see where I get. Recently, I've realized that I can no longer be in denial over soda. I love the stuff, but it really is the worst. Empty calories, refined sugar, etc. Before today's weigh-in, I thought maybe I could still continue to consume the stuff as normal, and simply off-set that intake through exercise. Well, I've been taking (on average) three-mile walks on a near-daily basis, and I've had no weight change. That means something's got to change in the diet, and soda is the obvious choice. I've managed to steer clear of it today, but who knows if I'll be able to do the same tomorrow? Oh, well. One day at a time, right?

Hi Shawno. I don't know you're age, but from the photo you and I look to be about the same weight when I was that age (I'm 50 now). I used to be able to go up some in weight, and then work part of it back off. Until I had my first stent at 43. And my next 4 at 45. And reconstructive surgery on my back at 47 because of the damage the fluroscope did during such a long stent procedure. And to top all that off, I just had a stroke. What a harbinger of doom, huh? I'm really not that gloomy, and most people do want to hang around me, until I hear them with the "oh, no, not the reconstructed muscle again." I have now lost a little over 10 pounds. I'm on a treadmill every day. I eat better than any guest chef on the "Today" show. But look what it took to get it through my thick head. And thick torso. You're absolutely right about the sodas. That's a start. It's a small change you can make and win right away. There's more things, and I promise that as I figure them out, I'll let you know!

Hi, My name is Erin and I am a Popaholic. I never drank regular pop but my only fluid intake was coffee and Diet Cola. I have now cut back to only having a glass of Caffeine Free Diet Cola for Supper. It wasn't easy, pop can become a habit. I am interested to see how you make out this week reducing the soda! Hang in there! Cheers!
